Embracing the fall reset

As fall unfolds, I find myself embracing a much-needed reset. Having left my corporate job less than six months ago, these past months have been a whirlwind of exhilarating highs and challenging lows. The journey has been anything but linear, with moments of profound joy mixed with deep uncertainty.

Spring was chaotic, summer was a season of disruptive change, and now, as autumn arrives, I feel a profound urge to realign and ground myself. This season of transformation mirrors my own need for intentional reflection and focus.

Returning from a summer sabbatical, I undertook a powerful intention-setting exercise. With a clean whiteboard and two sets of Post-it notes—one for “Absolutely” and one for “No Thank You”—I meticulously categorized the activities and commitments I wanted to embrace. Surprisingly, some items on the “No Thank You” list were things I once cherished but now felt disconnected from. It became clear that outgrowing old passions is a natural part of evolving. I gave myself permission to delete them.

During this period, I attended a transformative four-day women’s retreat at a hot springs resort in Colorado. The retreat was designed to enhance our energy and provided ample downtime for self-discovery. The physical and mental challenges were unexpected, but the experience was a rejuvenating “workout” for my spirit. It allowed me to detox from limiting beliefs and better align with my true self.

As the leaves turn and fall, we’re reminded of the power in letting go. Fall is a season of shedding what no longer serves us, preparing for a period of rest and renewal before the new growth of spring.

What leaves do you need to prune from your life? What can you release to make room for new possibilities? You get to decide.
