Embrace your inner disruptor

I’ve always strived to be a good girl. Perfectionist from a young age, people-pleaser, straight A student - you get the idea. So, the idea of embracing my inner disruptor has felt a bit foreign to me.

But as I’ve navigated breaking out of the corporate mold and stepping into a space that feels new and unique to me, I’ve realized that being a disruptor is something I want to embrace and be proud of.

Before I left my public accounting career, I spent a lot of time reading and listening to Steve Jobs quotes. There was something about being brave in pursuing your passions and finding work that you love that appealed to me.

And given it’s graduation season, I wanted to share one of my favorite quotes.

“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers.

The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.

They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.

Because they change things. They push the human race forward.

And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world,

are the ones who do.”

How can you embrace your inner disruptor today?

For the world needs your genius and who you were made to be.
